Carrot Barrettes
It's spring! Well......almost....except for the fact that it snowed today. Anyways, I made Ry-pie some cute little carrot barrettes. What's up doc?
Supplies:
Orange and green felt
Scissors
Glue
Hand sewing needle and thread
Snap barrette
Cut two rectangles from the orange fabric
Then cut a small slit into the center of one of the felt rectangles.
Now slide the opened bottom part of the barrette into the slit like this...
Then just place the other felt rectangle on top to sandwich the barrette between the felt pieces.
Now take your needle and thread, and stitch all around the barrette, as close to the actual barrette as you can.
Now just trim the excess felt around the entire barrette, as close to the stitching as you can get with out cutting into the stitched part.
Lastly, cut out your little carrot stem using the green felt and glue to the top of your carrot. Now just ooh and aah over the cuteness! :)

Pop-tarts
Santa brought Caleb a diner for Christmas, (not a kitchen of course, that's girlie). Lol. I've been making him "food" for it ever since. One of the easiest and cutest things was...Pop-tarts!
Now I'd like to say that we don't normally have these in the house....but who am I kidding, my mother-in-law (the best) brings them over....as little treats for Caleb. And yes, I'm guilty of indulging in them once in awhile too.
Supplies:
Different sheets of felt (light brown, white, and other colors)
Fabric markers
Sewing machine, thread
Glue
I just started off with two rectangular shapes of light brown felt. (You can make two pop-tarts from one piece of felt. Just cut in half lengthwise, and then again cross-wise.)
Sew around edge leaving an opening at the bottom to turn inside out.
Turn inside out and stitch closed.
Take a piece of white felt and cut out a piece that looks like this...
Then glue onto "pop-tart".
Take some fabric markers, and just dot all over the white "frosting" part for the sprinkles. I've seen other felt food like cupcakes, cookies and such, with beads stitched on for the sprinkles. But I think these look cute as is.
Done.
To make them even cuter I did the same thing as above but scalloped one corner to make it look like there was a bite taken out of it. Before I sewed the two pieces of felt together I slipped in a red piece of felt with the same scalloping as the "filling", (strawberry of course).
I'll post some more "food" projects that I've done later. Enjoy your weekend!

Felt flower headbands
I had made this little felt flower for a random headband that I had found. My hair's brown, so next time I would choose a different color but brown was the color of my headband at the time.
My first try on the flower was a bit too big for my headband. But perfect for Ry-pie's. Hers and hers headbands. Super cute!
For each flower:
You'll need a total of 6 felt rounds. (Any size you choose, but all the same size).
Needle and thread
Plus headband and glue to put flower on.
Take your first two felt rounds and stack them.
Take your next felt round and fold in half like this
Then fold again into quarters like this
Stitch center tip of quartered round onto center of two stacked rounds.
Repeat with remaining 3 rounds. (Make several stitches around the tips a few times, just to make sure they're secure).
My stitching in the center isn't very pretty but you won't be able to see the stitching when your done anyways.
Just fluff up a bit and you're done.
Then position and glue onto headband. (I used a cream colored ribbon headband I made for Ry-pies, and two small flowers for my headband.)

Valentine's day hoodie
Here's a little Valentine's Day hoodie for Ry-pie.
Here's what it started as.....
I just used a seam ripper to take off the pockets and the fur trim around the hood.
Then cut out heart shapes using red felt for the pockets (I had to cut out some smaller heart shapes cause my heart pockets weren't quite big enough to cover the original pocket). Then I just cut a long strip of felt and and sewed a straight stitch using the least tension to create the ruffle. Then sewed that around the hood. I gotta say....I love it!
